DOL Posts Regulatory Agenda

DOL Posts Regulatory Agenda

13 June 2013

The Department of Labor has released its fall 2012 Regulatory Agenda, which has been on hiatus since late 2011.

The Regulatory Agenda is designed to provide stakeholders with information and timetables about planned regulatory initiatives. This long anticipated Agenda offers the first look at the priorities for the Administration's second term. There are several OSHA priorities to note:

Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP): The IIPP rule has been under development for several years, but has yet to be released in any form or fashion to the public. The Agenda states that OSHA will initiate the delayed SBREFA process in January of 2013, with a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to follow in December, 2013.

Silica: OSHA's effort to propose a comprehensive standard regulating silica is slated to be published in May, 2013.

Combustible Dust: Another widely anticipated rulemaking, expected to impact a large swath of manufacturing industries, is Combustible Dust. According to the Agenda, OSHA's plan is to initiate a SBREFA in October, 2013.

Update to Recordkeeping Rule Regarding Reporting of Amputations/In-patient Hospitalizations: OSHA states that it plans to issue a final rule in May, 2013.
